Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month

Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month

July is the Cleft Lip and Craniofacial Awareness Month. We are so thrilled to raise awareness with our cleft community to educate others, learn from each other, and help those who can't help themselves.

1 in 700 babies is born with a Cleft Lip and Palate every day. Cleft causes difficulty in eating, drinking, speaking and hearing. In First World countries, children born with a Cleft Condition go through at least two surgeries before the age of 1. In developing countries, some grow up without having operations at all.

Surgery is not the end goal of cleft treatment. There are speech therapies, hearing tests, bone graft and more. Children who are bone with a cleft are also prone to bullying. Sadly this is still happening these days, even from famous people of influence (National Tv and Youtube Channel).

This month's goal is to educate, share the love, and bring more smiles to those who need it the most. We hope we can shed light on everyone because with Cleft- Every Smile has a story behind that Smile is a Journey.
